There's a Place in LA That Serves Grits? I'm There.

Nat's Early Bite

Last Sunday, Roomie and I finally made good on our attempts to go to Nat's Early Bite for brunch. We'd been saying it for a few months, but Sundays rolled around and either she worked or I didn't laze out of bed until Noonish, and we always missed it. But THIS TIME. We went, regardless of the fact it was an hour or so later than we'd intended.

What's ridiculous is this little diner/cafe is maybe 3 or 4 blocks away. Even more ridiculous? We drove. But hey, it's LA, and 3-4 blocks is further than it sounds, and we needed to go to Target afterwards. I know, judge me all you want, we're lazy. (This is one of the reasons I need to move to a more public-transportation/walker friendly-city).

We ended up waiting maybe 20 minutes for a table... the place was PACKED. It's cheap, good, gets around 4-5 stars on online reviews, and is a great hole-in-the-wall. I got coffee and a Greek Omelette, which came with fries, hashbrowns, or GRITS, and toast or a muffin (I got the raspberry walnut). Omg Amazing. I didn't even eat the muffin until I got home, I was so full.

It's so good, a celebrity or two has been known to stop by.

And the service is really good. Our waitress was super nice, and all the guys were... friendly.

If you live in the LA area, preferably the Valley, I recommend it. While it's not as gratuitous as Vienna Cafe on Melrose, where you get a red velvet cupcake and mimosa before you sit down, and a loaf of bread when you leave for free, it's cheaper and much, much closer for us valley-folk (and we all know that leaving the Valley, once you're there, is a very tough thing to do).

You can find Nat's at 14115 Burbank Blvd. Your brunch won't know what hit it.
