You should probably put your bandit hat on now. Personally, I- I don't have one, but I modified this tube sock.

13. Watch 26 movies I’ve never seen starting with each letter of the Alphabet (5/26)

Fantastic Mr. Fox
(Wes Anderson, 2009)

I saw this right after going to see Up in the Air, so I was having a bit of a George Clooney overload. But then again, you can never have too much George, so who am I kidding? I went with Roomie and Beth to a 7:15 show at the really cheap theater on Beverly... the one where they play Midnight Movies every Friday... LA's version of a dollar theater... at something around $7.50 each. Cash.

Beth had already seen it a few times before, but Roomie didn't really enjoy it (except the scene with the Badgers, because she went to Madison and has the same outfit the Badger wore). I, however, LOVED it. I don't know if it's the reversion into childhood, the hyper-realism in the wonderful world of Wes Anderson, the stop-motion, or what, but I was SMILING throughout a most of this movie. Like, a giddy, happy smile that says "I'm really enjoying this." And THAT SONG. I love.

It was so heartfelt and fun. Imagine a stop-motion film (think Wallace and Gromit). Now imagine a Wes Anderson film (The Royal Tenenbaums or Rushmore, perhaps?). Now mix the two together.

Amazing, right?

  2. @sarah I understand your fear... and I never read the book, so I can't accurately opinionize about that, but I really enjoyed it. But then, I love Wes Anderson.
